Sunday School

Sunday school is one of the ways we instill in our youth the belief and knowledge of the Lord, as well as the traditions of our church.  Through Sunday school the church invests directly into the next generation.

"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it."
            - Proverbs 22:6

Structure

Our Sunday school year is in line with the US academic school year, running from August to May.  All classes meet before Qurbana from 9-9:45 am. Each year there is a mid-term exam and a final exam.  We have Sunday School almost every Sunday during the school year -- there are few exceptions, like Christmas break or special feast days.  You can view the current Sunday School calendar of events here

The diocese has provided us with a curriculum and lesson books.  The national curriculum consists of 10 separate grades, each with their own lesson book.  Each lesson book has 5 units, covering: Prayer, Old Testament, New Testament, Church Spirituality & History.  The Pre-School class doesn't cover a book provided by the diocese; rather they have a curriculum developed by the teachers themselves consisting of stories, coloring, and videos.

Each class is run independent of the other classes, with a detailed curriculum developed by that class's teachers.  For each class we have 2 talented teachers.  Many of the current teachers are previous graduates who are willing to serve.
