Event Date:
On Saturday, March 29th, members of St. Peter’s gathered to listen to Fr. James Mikhail speak about the topic "Find Your Wildnerness" and how it related to the overall theme of "Fasting" this Lenten Season Mt 6:16-18 “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." Fr. Mikhail's message reminded members that throughout Lent we should seek God, overcome our temptations and grow. During Lent, we are to encounter God in our quiet times (ie.wilderness).
In addition to the guest speaker message, the church partnered with Feed My Starving Children Organization (fmsc.org) in Schaumburg to help pack 62,586 meals that will feed at least 172 starving children for at least one year. Once packed, these meals are shipped to countries in need to help efforts in ending hunger across the world. This event was truly a humbling and rewarding experience for the members of St. Peter’s.
