Lenten Service Project 4: Syria Turkey Relief (March 25, 2023)

Early February of 2023, the region in the middle of Turkey and Syria experienced a massive earthquake.  The estimated death toll from the earthquake surpassed 50000 people.  In the face of such calamity, as a church - we pray and we respond.  As part of that response, during the 2023 Lenten season, our parish designated Turkey/Syria earthquake relief as one of our Lenten service projects.

St. Peter's partnered with MedGlobal and started collecting money and supplies to distribute via their network.  The collection of items ran through the entire Lenten Season.  In addition to money, a variety of medical items were donated: wheelchairs, blood pressure machines, glucometers, nebulizers, oximeters, blankets, etc.

Thank you to all the donations from inside the church and the Chicago community in general!

Aside from the item collection phase, we also spent the evening of March 25th creating over 100 hygiene kits containing basic toiletries for men and women.

We hope and pray that all these items may provide some comfort and relief to our brothers and sisters affected in that region.
