Charity Project 2021 - Gift for the Gifted

During this holiday season as part of the Gift for Gifted project, St. Peter’s Syriac Orthodox Church Chicago would like to extend a helping hand to families with disabled or differently abled individuals. The individuals can use the assistance to buy mobility/medical devices and/or other equipment. The assistance is meant for individuals who have a disability that hinders a livelihood, have kids with Autism, Down Syndrome etc., have parents that are differently abled, and the family/individual does not have stable and adequate income.  Completed application forms and all supporting documents must be submitted before January 15, 2022

Streamed Service

Due to Covid-19, physical attendance to the Holy Liturgy was limited.  From Jun 20, 2021 - we have fully re-opened the church!  We will be "pausing" the live stream as we are now fully open! 

Good Friday - A full day of meditation.

Syriac Orthodox faithful often gets challenged by the relevance of Good Friday Services in today's busy world. How can anyone attend a service for more than six hours, that too on a working/business day? An in-depth understanding of the Syriac Orthodox Good Friday liturgy gives a definite answer to this. When we understand the imagery and mystery in the service, we will find the service very beautiful and length truly justified.

The Vine and Branches

What is the job description of a vinedresser? The definition of vinedresser is “an agriculturalist who cultivates and prunes grapevines”. Pruning is one of the most important job of a vinedresser. A vinedresser is involved in daily pruning of grapevines, to help ensure that vineyard has a successful crop. Pruning is critical in the grape production system.


In the new covenant of the Messiah, the passover event takes on its new meaning as the celebration of Christ’s death and resurrection, the “exodus” of men from this sinful world to the Kingdom of God; likewise, the pentecostal feast is fulfilled and made new by the coming of the “new law,” the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples of Christ.  

2015 Family Night
